The new academy will contribute towards the regeneration of West Salisbury, offering a ‘welcoming for all’ centre which acts a hub for learning, for access, for leisure, for healthy living and for spiritual growth.
Facilities
The academy site will become a centre for the whole community, a place where local diversity is celebrated.
It will create and strengthen links with hard-to-reach and minority groups.
It will allow parents/carers to access a range of services in one location – including training, health, voluntary organisations, community police, social care and housing.
It will provide skills training sessions for parents, and support the development of distance learning packages. Particular emphasis will be place on supporting disengaged parents, through tailored outreach programmes.
Partnerships
The sponsors wish to see the new academy working with a wide range of partners, including:
- other secondary schools, both in the UK and overseas, and academies similar to ours
- Wiltshire College and Bath Spa University (for the ongoing training of our staff)
- feeder primary schools
- local service providers
- employers (to offer vocational training to our students)
- churches
- Salisbury community groups
- Bemerton Parish Council
