About the academy

The proposed new academy for West Salisbury will:

  • be sponsored by the Church of England Diocese of Salisbury, Bryanston School and Wiltshire Council
  • have an ethos rooted in Christian values while remaining fully inclusive, welcoming students from all faiths and of none
  • serve 1200 students aged 11-16, with an additional 250 in the sixth form
  • open in the existing school buildings in September 2010, moving into new accommodation in September 2013
  • offer a personalised curriculum suited to each individual’s strengths and interests
  • build on Salisbury High School’s good practice in the teaching of mathematics (by making this subject a specialism)
  • introduce the Arts as a second specialism, helping to develop the skills and confidence of our students
  • create a centre to be used and enjoyed by the whole community
